As Christians and Jews, following the example of the faith of Abraham, we are called to be a blessing to the world (cf. Gen. 12:2 ff.). This is the common task awaiting us. It is therefore necessary for us, Christians and Jews, to be first a blessing to one another (L'Osservatore Romano, August 17, 1993).~John Paul II

My Note: Solzhenitsyn was also a Christian who zealously defended 'truth' for he had been the victim of the brutal socialist regime that hated not only truth but the rights of freedom for each individual created by God. He documented the vile random cruelty of its malicious march to strip goodness, love and truth from every corner.
I AM, HOWEVER, ENCOURAGED BY A keen sense OF WORLD LITERATURE as the one great heart that beats for the cares and misfortunes of our world, even though each corner sees and experiences them in a different way.
In past times, also, besides age-old national literatures there existed a concept of world literature as the link between the summits of national literatures and as the aggregate of reciprocal literary influences. But there was a time lag: readers and writers came to know foreign writers only belatedly, sometimes centuries later, so that mutual influences were delayed and the network of national literary high points was visible not to contemporaries but to later generations.Today, between writers of one country and the readers and writers of another, there is an almost instantaneous reciprocity...

"What rot. Children, refugees, women, men, the elderly, the disabled, the severely disabled, the unborn, are of extreme value because human life is valuable. Period. People are worthy of our service simply because they are people and as such have inestimable dignity. Furthermore, as Blessed John Paul II said, women are particularly well-placed to humanize society. He said that we need women because they are women, and by their existence and through their bodies and their experience, they bear witness in a special way to the value of the human person by just being women."

UK: Muslim teacher gets only 10 days in prison for brutal assaults of children in Qur'an class - Jihad Watch
f a non-Muslim teacher in a non-Muslim school committed these assaults, do you think he would have gotten only ten days? More British dhimmitude: "Muslim teacher who was secretly filmed kicking and slapping children at mosque is jailed," by Chris Brooke for the Daily Mail, November 24 (thanks to Anthony): An islamic teacher was jailed yesterday after being caught on a hidden camera kicking and hitting children during religious lessons in a mosque....

(UK) 22 year old Soban Bin Ikram of Bradford Yorkshire received a 5 year prison sentence for trying to rape a 19 year old student. Of course because he is a good Muslim (aren't they all) it couldn't have been him and the fact that his DNA was found on her tights , he is going to appeal his prison sentence. Which begs me to ask the question, just what the hell was this pious Muslim doing in a night club, you know where there are women, where there is Alcohol and where there is Music, all forbidden to the holier than thou crowd.
But that's just it isn't it, how many times have you heard Muslims coming out with excuses in which to gain the upper hand in dealings; Be it dogs, alcohol, gambling women or even sex. People are so quick to give them a cop out when they object to something, yet time and time again, they break their own bloody rules in which to sate their lust on the unsuspecting.

In 1996, Answers in Genesis Ministries tried to get some property rezoned so they could build a museum that would teach world history from a biblical perspective. Local atheist groups rallied the neighbors enough that the county zoning commission voted to deny the request to rezone the property in question.
County officials cited that there was a lack of proper infrastructure to support the project, however many of the opponents made no effort to hide their religious reasons for opposing the construction of a Christian museum in their area.
A couple of years later, Answers in Genesis found another piece of property and again went before the county zoning commission to request the property be rezoned and once again atheists and liberals fought the effort. They testified at the public hearings that it was once again an infrastructure issue, but the truth came out when one local resident told the zoning panel at the end of her testimony that she didn’t want them evangelizing her neighborhood....
As inhabitants of our modern culture, we find ourselves trapped in a world of “cause and effect.” It is a physical explanation of the universe that has, for all intents and purposes, become a universal metaphor, dominating religion and the most personal aspects of our lives.
We see ourselves as the agents of change – or responsible for many of the disasters that litter our lives. Those who “succeed” imagine that they are the masters of their fate, or, perhaps the ones who responsibly “chose” God.
For the weak, the addict, the genetically impaired, the myth of choice and the power of freedom are often experienced as a merciless taunt. We not only fail – it is judged that we fail because we have not willed to succeed. Our weakness becomes a curse, while the blessed enjoy their prosperity and their health. Choice is a myth believed best by the young. Old age almost invariably makes a mockery of its boasts. The “pro-choice” movement and the growing acquiesence to legalized euthanasia are but natural extensions of our “free will.” These last manifestations of our “freedom” are the freedom to kill and to commit suicide, which, of course are only illusions of freedom.
There is an important and occasionally subtle difference between these modern concepts of freedom and choice – man as the agent of change – and the traditional Orthodox understanding of the world and the place that free will plays within it. On the most fundamental level, the world of cause and effect (the realm of our willful choices) is an insufficient arena for the Truth as revealed in Christ. God cannot be described merely as an agent in a world of cause and effect. He cannot be described as First Cause – because He cannot be described by a term of which there is a Second. God is not the First of anything – God is the Only of which there is no other. The God Who has made Himself known in Christ Jesus is rightly identified as the Creator of all that is. .....

When the hammer and sickle came down over the Kremlin in 1991, a seventy-four-year-old experiment collapsed in bankruptcy, political disintegration, and cheering. Trillions in treasure, many millions of lives, more than forty years of struggle, four decades of the Strategic Air Command being on alert, the underlying agreement between both parties on partisanship ending at the border – it all ended that night, preceded by the demolition of the Berlin Wall. Across Europe, east and west, millions danced in the streets. Small wonder.
Even in its late stages, the communist experiment guided from Moscow was a murderous, oppressive monstrosity. In its home country, it had murdered millions under Lenin, twenty million or more under Stalin, with periods of mass starvation as forced collectivization failed, and an endless succession of show trials, conspiracies, and military interventions to enforce the party’s grim rule. Life in Russia’s client states was only slightly better. Gorbachev’s loosening of this totalitarian state provided the excuse the general population needed to toss them all out, with hardly a shot fired. “Why waste bullets on a corpse?” was a popular saying in Moscow in 1990. Ammunition wasn’t needed elsewhere either, except in Rumania, where one of the nastiest Red thugs, actually a couple, were gleefully, horribly tortured, mutilated and murdered by crowds, rather like Mussolini had been during the Second World War. There were remarkable intellectual circles, such as those around Havel in Czechoslovakia, intellectuals devoted to the idea of free thinking, freedom of action, liberty of the individual, and capitalism, albeit a somewhat more restrained variety than you might find in a movie about America’s Wild West. It was shocking to Western intellectuals, many of them sympathizers with the Soviet Union, Communism, and socialism. The astonishing wave rising against the Soviet occupation of Eastern Europe between 1978 and 1989 pushed aside all allegiances and standard explanations (much like the Arab Spring of now). Even old Lefties like the late, great Leonard Bernstein were delirious when the Berlin Wall came down....

George Washington's 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation.
Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me to "recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"......................
The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God....
Thank you to the millions of people, including my ancestors, who pulled up stakes, or risked life and limb, and travelled to America, and built this great country and passed it on to us.
Dear God, we give you thanks for our ancestors who left homes and families and the life they knew and came to America, often at great sacrifice and great hazard, and built this great country and gave it to us. Please grant that we will be worthy of them, and leave this country to those who come after not only not less but greater than it has been given to us.
On this Thanksgiving we all have many things to be thankful for. The greatest gift we can ever give is compassion.
I will not let thee go except thou be blessed. Now wouldn’t it be a magnificent world if we all lived that way with each other or even with ourselves?
At first it seemed the shooters had forever silenced the girl who had dreams of making the world a kinder place. But in the days following her death, Rachel's dad discovered an essay she had written just one month before she died. She titles it 'My Ethics, My Codes of Life'. In it she wrote the following:
"I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion then it will start a chain reaction of the same. People will never know how far a little kindness can go."
"In that essay, she challenged her reader to start a chain reaction of kindness and compassion that would ripple around the world," said Darrell.

Medicaid recipients forced to join union:
How does the thuggish SIEU acquire so much money that it can spend over $60 million helping to install a close friend in the White House? The same way other major Democrat donors like trial lawyers do — through unmitigated greed. Here we learn that under a forced unionization law, a Michigan couple is classified as “healthcare workers” because they care for their kids with cerebral palsy at home rather than locking them up in an institution. That way the SEIU can coercively extract union dues from their Medicaid checks.

SPOKANE-- Two women and a baby were able to escape a house fire thanks to some attentive neighbors Sunday morning.
A Poem A Day from the George Hail Library ~ Selected by Maria Horvath: If I Can Stop One Heart from Breaking
[Agape: The Law of True Love: Generous Hospitality]
The opposite of cruelty is not simply kindness or the end of the cruel relationship. The opposite of cruelty is hospitality.
This is the conclusion reached by the philosopher Philip Hallie (1922-1994) after he studied what the villagers of Le Chambon-sur-Lignon had done during the Second World War. Le Chambon was located in a part of France under the close eyes of the Nazis. All the Jews found in the area would be deported to the extermination camps in the East.
The residents decided as a village to provide food and shelter and comfort to any Jews knocking on their doors. Risking their lives, they saved more than 6000 Jews.
But their enduring hospitality did more than save lives. For example, writes Hallie, “the morning after a new refugee family came to town they would find on their front door a wreath with ‘Bienvenue!’ ‘Welcome!’ painted on a piece of cardboard attached to the wreath. Nobody knew who had brought the wreath; in effect, the whole town had brought it.”
“The people of Le Chambon,” wrote a woman years later who had been saved as a young girl, “showed to us that life can be different, that there are people who care, that people can live together and even risk their own lives for their fellow man.” The people of Le Chambon gave their guests hope for the future.
If I can stop one Heart from breaking,
I shall not live in Vain:
If I can ease one Life the Aching,
Or cool one Pain,
Or help one fainting Robin
Unto his Nest again,
I shall not live in Vain.
~ Emily Dickinson (1830-1886), American poet

Here’s his email:
(FOX 25/MyFoxBoston.com) — A Suffolk University law professor will not collect items for United States troops overseas and thinks it is “shameful” to do so.
Law professor Michael Avery sent a five-paragraph e-mail to colleagues in response to a school-wide appeal for care packages for deployed soldiers.
“I think it is shameful that it is perceived as legitimate to solicit in an academic institution for support for men and women who have gone overseas to kill other human beings” wrote Avery.
Avery also wrote that he believes sympathy for troops in harms way is “not particularly rational in today’s world.”
The e-mail did not stop with Avery’s objection to the care packages. Avery went on to question the schools intent of the American flag hanging in the atrium:“Since Sept. 11 we have had perhaps the largest flag in New England hanging in our atrium. This is not a politically neutral act.

"Islam is a creed of an ignorant people in a primitive and barbaric age. It is fixated in time and place; it harbors the ambition of taking the 21st century world back 14 centuries and ruling it by its dogma of violence, intolerance, injustice and death. Yet, Islam is not only an obsolete vestige of a defunct era, but itself is an infinitely fractured belief that can hardly put its own home in order. The numerous Islamic sects are at each other’s throats; sub-sects and schools despise one another as much as they hate non-Muslims. Hatred, not love, drives Islam.
In the monumental task of dealing with Islam and its variations, every individual, group and government must combine their resources and energies to prevail. We must urge all people to resist Islam’s encroachment and not be deceived by its sanitized version presented in non-Islamic lands. The destiny of civilized life hangs in the balance. Shirking of this responsibility would be an unpardonable act of every enlightened human being and organization that values human liberty and dignity.".......

“ Christian ideas and other religious content face a clear and present danger of censorship on web- based communication platforms,” said the National Religious Broadcasters’ report, “ True Liberty in a New Media Age,” dated September 15. If Christian content is “ censored” by new media platforms like the iTunes App Store, Facebook, Google, or Internet service providers, “ the Good News of the Gospel could become one more casualty of institutionalized religious discrimination,” the broadcaster organization’s president, Frank Wright, said in the report’s foreword.
The National Religious Broadcasters was founded in 1944 to oppose government regulations and policy decisions by major broadcast networks which impeded the ability of evangelical min-isters to buy radio airtime.
Some new media companies have banned Christian content, while others have public positions that make censorship “ all but inevitable.”
Except for the micro- blogging service Twitter, all the new media platforms and services examined have policies “ clearly inconsistent with the free speech values of the U. S. Constitution,” the report said.
New media companies are responsive to “ market forces” and the demands by “ pressure groups calling for censorship” of otherwise lawful viewpoints.
As examples of “ anti- Christian censorship,” the report cited the Apple iTunes App Store’s removal of the Manhattan Declaration app that defended traditional marriage. The store also removed an app from Exodus International that said that homosexuality is inappropriate conduct which can be changed through a spiritual transformation. ..

[My response: Terrible. However, Christians, yeah, we're still here!, are just as upset.]
by Phyllis Chesler
I offer this interview as a token of my appreciation and as a contribution to all the men and women who are currently serving or who have ever served our country in a military or intelligence capacity.
Most of us think we know all about soldiers and spies because we follow the actors who play such roles on television and in the movies. Thus, we see actors engaging in a lot of “action,” and we—at least those of us who have not been soldiers or spies—learn to suspend all disbelief. We are used to seeing a month long battle or even an entire war begin and end within an hour or two, and we leave the theater knowing that, in the end, the “good guys and gals” always triumph.
This is crazy. Even though I myself am an avid fan of television’s NCIS, and most of the World War Two movies (Flags of Our Fathers, Letters from Iwo Jima, Saving Private Ryan, etc.), I am far more interested in the stories of real life soldiers and spies. I want to know what they think, what they do, how they learn their craft. Recently, an incredibly dignified hero came my way.
First, a letter arrived in the old-fashioned manner. The author cordially addressed me as a “colleague in the field of terrorism.” He asked whether I might like to read his unpublished manuscript about Islam and terrorism.
I was about to say no when, on a hunch, I agreed to look at his work.
A package soon arrived which weighed at least five pounds. I opened it and almost immediately began to read his book, which is tentatively titled: The DNA of Terrorism. The work, which focuses on Islamic fundamentalism, is very, very good. Now, I was curious about the author. I wanted to know how he came by this extraordinary knowledge.
Before I could even reach for the phone, he called and suggested we meet. He said:
I must tell you that both I and my wife still adhere to a 1930s dress code.
I plowed through my closet wondering what in God’s name to wear. Gloves? A hat? Nylon stockings? I ended up wearing what I usually do.

Eye On The World: Mexican drug gang beheads yet another blogger and dumps the body and severed head in the street with a bloody warning note
(Daily Mail) Another blogger has been beheaded by a drug cartel as a warning for those who use social media to report illegal activities and tip off police.
The moderator of a social network was left under a blood-stained blanket with a note pinned to it which read: 'This happened to me for not understanding that I shouldn't report on the social networks.'
The victim, nicknamed Rascatripas (or Belly Scratcher), looked after a website in the border city of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico...
It’s coming out that not only did Penn State football coach Joe Paterno (“Joe Pa” to many in the cult of “Happy Valley”) know about the raping of young boys brought to Penn State through a charitable program, but that others on the Penn State staff knew what was going on and did nothing to stop this.
New allegations point to even bigger wrongdoing — where extremely wealthy Penn State donors were provided the opportunity to rape young boys with the help of facilitator Jerry Sandusky.
HotAirPundit: Breitbart Photos: Michael Moore’s Massive Michigan Vacation Mansion Beyond 99 Percent’s Wildest Dreams
Left-wing filmmaker Michael Moore has been touring Occupy Wall Street demonstrations across the country–including some of the most violent, such as Occupy Oakland–urging activists to continue their fight against the wealthy “one percent” of Americans
Initially, Moore tried to deny that his massive wealth made him a member of that one percent. Even when forced to admit the obvious, Moore suggested that he was not always among the one percent, based on his income: “Other years, like last year, I don’t have a job (no movie, no book) and so I make a lot less.”
The fact is that Moore is so wealthy that he does not need to worry about his income. According to public tax records, Moore owns a massive vacation home on Torch Lake, Michigan–one of the most elite communities in the United States–in addition to his posh Manhattan residence.

The mother of the boy who triggered the investigation into Jerry Sandusky's alleged child sex assaults says that during the years of abuse the boy suffered he felt he didn't have the power to say no to the former Penn State football coach.
Speaking exclusively with George Stephanopoulos on ABC News' "Good Morning America" the mother of the boy, who is referred to in court papers as Victim 1, describes how she learned of the abuse and how her son lived in fear of coming forward to implicate a football coaching legend.
"I had said, 'You know, maybe we should have come to this conclusion earlier -- you should have told me,'" the mother, whose name is being withheld, said she told her son. "He was like, 'Well, I didn't know what to do … you just can't tell Jerry no.'"...

The interesting thing about war, it affects everyone. No border can keep it out. Those that feel smug and think they are removed from war often get a rude awakening when it comes pounding on their door. Peace would be beautiful. However, as long as there are those that feel might and power give them the right to trample others, war will exist. I am thankful to those in every country that have served to protect liberty and lives of others. PTSD is sometimes called 'the soldier's illness.' I am sorry that they suffer long after they have come home. I found a few links that you may want to visit.
A Good Teacher
This is a true story. It started in a school. The location of the school is of no consequence, nor is the name of the teacher a consequence. What matters is what the teacher did to convey a serious point. This is what she did–
One day she set up a ‘lesson’ for her kids. On the first day of homeroom, she removed all the desks and chairs. Needless to say, the kids came in confused, wondering what the heck happened. This was the lesson: if there was one kid who could guess why they deserved to have chairs to sit on and desks to work on, she’d get the desks and chairs back into the room. The teacher gave each kid till the end of the day to figure it out.
As the day went by, every kid thought about it. The teacher got every possible answer; she heard ‘good grades’, ‘punctuality’, ‘good behavior’. Each time, the teacher turned each student down, saying that it wasn’t the reason. Every kid was flabbergasted. What could it have been? No one knew.
At the end of the day, the students rounded in with the desks and chairs still missing. She presented her ‘lesson’ one more time. None of the students could think of anything. None had a reason why they would have chairs and desks. Smiling, she nodded her head. As she made her way to a door leading into an adjacent room, she said this: “this is the reason why you’re allowed to have desks and chairs for school.” ..............................????????????[Do you know?]
Like everyone else, however, I cannot imagine how a bunch of people somehow tacitly agreed not to do anything about it. [. . .]
But perhaps because the heart of the darkness seems so incomprehensible, we've mostly been talking around the edges--stating the obvious, over and over, as if the mantra could reassure. It really goes without saying that we are outraged and saddened by these events--I literally almost vomited upon reading some of the grand jury report. We are all agreed that this is awful, and also that yes, we should never forget the potential for evil that breathes within all of us. It is virtually redundant to note that everyone involved in this scandal should be fired, and made to feel their bleak shame for the rest of their lives...We're all still left with a large, unanswered "why?" I am fundamentally a cynic: I believe that people will do almost any awful thing.
But I need a reason. And I cannot find one in any of this.Perhaps it was simple cowardice. ... I'm tempted to add that our culture doesn't exactly promote children as a precious asset worthy of our protection, but maybe that's taking it too far?..
Paul Campos: The Mystery of Cowardice
Now here is the detail that, among all the details in the Grand Jury’s extensive depiction of the morally depraved behavior of Sandusky, Curley, Schultz, Paterno, PSU president Graham Spanier, and McQueary, is perhaps the most shocking: Five years after this, in the spring of 2007, Sandusky was attending PSU football practices with his latest rape victim: a 12-year-old boy who he had met through a Second Mile camp conducted at PSU, and who he was in the process of, among other things, orally sodomizing.
At this point, McQueary was no longer a graduate assistant, as he had been promoted to an administrative assistant position on the football staff a few months after his meetings with Paterno, Curley and Schultz, and was made a full-fledged assistant coach the following year. So Mike McQueary and Joe Paterno were at the PSU football practices to which Jerry Sandusky was showing up with his latest child rape victim in tow. They saw him, there, with his latest victim. They could not have had any doubt, at that point, about what they were seeing. [. . .]

"We know from the sad experience of Nazi Germany or Khmer Rouge Cambodia that it is possible for whole nations to become mentally ill, with horrendous consequences. At the time, however, the Nazis or the Khmers had no idea that they were deeply out of touch with the reality that all people are equally worthy of respect and care....

Jerry Sandusky retired, the local DA did not have enough evidence to prosecute, and the matter was buried until now. Cover-ups are always worse than the initial crime.

We are now in a countdown to November 6, 2012, Election Day, and the mainstream press will shift more intensely into coverage of the campaigns; first for the Republican nomination of the candidate to oppose Barack Obama, and then through the interminable ups and downs of the campaign for the presidency.
[So, all that 'denial of being socialists' truly ends up being 'lies' and more lies after all!]
In bad times, anti-Semitism seems to crawl out of the sewers like a repugnant odor. It is not subject to a rational response. It is pure emotion and a very nasty one at that. Lately we got a whiff of it at some of the Occupy protests.
On November 3rd, the Anti-Defamation League released a nationwide study that found that “anti-Semitic attitudes have risen slightly in America, demonstrating once again that ‘anti-Semitic beliefs continue to hold a vice-grip’ on a small but not insubstantial segment of America.” ...
[My whole life has been fighting the terrible ignorance abounding in human beings unwilling to deal with the evil in their own hearts. Scapegoatism is a mild term for moral cowardice, hatred and evil. If one gives up God who is truth, love and mercy and refuses to humble oneself before Him as a 'sinner' then it is no wonder there is the wild dash to find someone else to blame it on, especially in a world where greed, gross sexual sins and egoistic 'prestige' rule as 'gods'.
"They loved the praise of men more than the love of God."
"They loved pleasure more than God."
They preferred to 'be their own gods."]
are there any left? Any??
All this brouhaha over Joe Paterno is obscuring the real problem. According to the Grand Jury report about the abuse of young boys by Jerry Sandusky, he was caught in the act at least twice by grown men. These men backed out of the room and did nothing to save the boy being raped. What kind of world do we live in that a man would turn his back on a criminal act being perpetrated on anyone - let alone a child? ...

At least 6 combatants dead in Mexican shootout, gang rivalry continues near El Paso | Lubbock Online | Lubbock Avalanche-Journal
CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico — Groups of heavily armed men fired hundreds of shots at each other in the streets of this Mexican border city, leaving at least six of the combatants dead, authorities said Friday.
Gunmen opened fire on each other late Thursday in the working class neighborhood of La Cuesta, Chihuahua state prosecutors spokesman Arturo Sandoval said. He said investigators recovered 442 spent bullets from the scene.
Officials have not said who was involved, but the Sinaloa and Juarez drug cartels have been battling since 2008 over control of the city across the border from El Paso, Texas. The fight has caused more than 7,000 deaths in the city.Later Friday, Mexican federal police said t.............

"THE INSIDE JOB" © ABIP 2011By Agustin Blazquez with the collaboration of Jaums Sutton
Now more than ever, Americans should read and learn about what life is really like inside a communist society. [NO KIDDING!!!]
This information is 100% relevant to today's USA. Cubans thought it "could never happen here", but it absolutely did happen. The "it's not a big deal" response to the many, many efforts of communists in the U.S., from the occupy Wall Street signs to the communist connections of so many of those President Obama has brought into the White House, it is a big deal and it could happen here.
The information below given by a former Cuban prisoner of conscience has changed very little over the last 52 years. However, the left wing liberal media and academia - which after years of infiltration has control of the release of information to the U.S. people - have blocked it's mainstream release. The Americans have been effectively brainwashed after decades of omission and misinformation into believing that communism is good because it takes care of everyone equally with no bad side effects. It takes care of no one except the elite and has many bad side effects, some so bad they are difficult to comprehend.

President Obama slams Congress for legislation affirming "In God We Trust" as our motto. Hey, maybe if Obama weren't doing everything he could to banish God and religion from public life, Congress wouldn't feel the need to act in such a manner.
